Japan finally facing its awful past

Sorry guys, I'm on my soapbox once again, and I know germ warfare isn't a fun subject but I wrote a book about it, and what I learnt SICKENED me. So I made a commitment to do what I could to alert the public to what has been covered up, and what is happening right now. Today on google alerts I received a post that made me feel slightly more optimistic about the future. Japan is finally coming clean about its dreadful germ warfare experiments during WWII.

For those have you who don't know about the massive cover-up here are the facts, but a word of warning it isn't pleasant reading matter. Japan has been silent about its wartime biological program. Now a group of students are forcing the nation to face up to the atrocities conducted by the army's germ warfare division during World War II.  http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2015-04/13/c_134146183.htm

One off the most closely guarded secrets of World War II, Japan has long denied the vile experiments on humans conducted by the army's biological warfare.  Many of the prisoners, who were murdered in the name of research, were used in hideous vivisection and other medical experiments, including barbaric trials to determine the effect of frostbite on the human body.To ease the conscience of those involved the prisoners were referred to as "Maruta" or wooden logs.

Shortly before Japan's surrender, Unit 731 was destroyed and 400 hundred "wooden logs" were shot, and the employees sworn to secrecy. Mice used in laboratory experiments were released. Infected with bubonic plague they had the potential to spread the disease to 30, 000 people. Few of those involved have admitted their guilt. Some caught in China at the end of the war were arrested, but only a handful were prosecuted for war crimes. In Japan no one was brought to justice. In a secret deal, the post war American administration gave them immunity in return for details of the experiments. Some of the worst criminals went on to occupy key medical posts.

I never saw myself as a crusader - but after researching germ warfare for The Biocide Conspiracy I was appalled, particularly when I know that 'us' the good guys haven't got clean hands.
