I've just created a brand new website, not through choice. You see my original website was hacked into and taken off the web. At the time I was frantically writing my latest thriller, Salvation Jane and didn't do anything about it. Eventually, I got around to recovering my website only to learn - you guessed it: I didn't have a back-up. I've had to start from scratch - nightmare cubed. Happily, the novel is finished now and in my next update I hope to announce the publishing date.  The naughty side of me loved writing about political skulduggery, and I hope you won't be too shocked.

With my partner, Cole in hospital recovering from a severe asthma attack, a surprise visit  from my daughter, Emma and granddaughter Molly raised my spirits. It is eighteen months since they last visited Western Australia, and we had a joyful reunion in Fremantle. It was a lovely day, we were joined by my son, Duncan and his partner Jaine. This month they are sailing off to the South China Sea, and so I anticipate thousands of hours without sleep.

In July we will all be getting together again for my mother's birthday: the big one, 100.  My mother, Edith Massey was born on July 20 1913 and married six months before the Second World War started. She still lives in her own home, insists on doing her own housework and caring for a very large garden. I know she's is going to be thrilled to receive a letter from the Queen. Queen Elizabeth's grandfather, George V was on the throne when mum was born.

Although I have retired from teaching, I am once again taking a group of young writers to a seminar at Fremantle in May. At this popular annual event, budding novelists get the chance to talk about their work and pick up tips from Australian authors.

Ps  A kindle free promo did wonders for my books' rankings . The Biocide Conspiracy made the number one spot in its genre, and The White Amah was ranked thirty-fifth in suspense. A great way to end the month.

Best Wishes,
Ann Massey
